18th Annual Kona Slack Key Festival

Ki-ho’alu Foundation is excited to announce to the public that the 18th Annual Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival “Kona Style” is on schedule to happen on Sept 5th, 2010 at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa’s (air conditioned) Convention Center from 12 Noon – 5 PM. The Festival was started on the island of O’ahu (28 years) in 1982 to celebrate the richness and beauty of Hawaiian Music and Slack Key Guitar which is 180 years old this year. The festival is also done on the islands of Maui (19 years), Hawaii (Kona 18 years), Kauai (18 years). This year the festival in Kona will be featuring some of Hawaii’s legends as well as up and Coming artists. The roster of performers include:

Also at the festival will be ono food prepared by the culinary staff at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and creative island crafts by Kona artisans. While the festival is free to the general public, we are asking for a $10.00 donation at the door to help the Foundation encumber some of the expenses for this free festival (children free). Everyone is encouraged to bring the entire family for a day of fresh air, fresh food, fresh “live” music. The festival is a presentation of the Ki-ho’alu Foundation and produced by Ka-Hoku Productions. Other partners include Rhythm & Roots Records, One Way Media, and support from “Live Hawaiian Legends”, Big Isle Productions, Vaka Nui Music, and Kona FM.
